Chicago Blackhawks Watching Detroit Red Wings vs Anaheim Ducks With Baited Breath

I have a sneaking suspicion that the Chicago Blackhawks are going to be skipping Game of Thrones tonight so that they can watch game 7 between the Anaheim Ducks and the Detroit Red Wings. If the Wings can pull off the upset and win in Anaheim, they’ll earn themselves a date this week at the United Center; In the event they lose, then the San Jose Sharks will make the trip east for a one versus six seed match-up.

The Hawks have had success versus both teams this season, however you’ve got to figure they’d love to see Detroit knock out the Ducks, who thus far, seem to be the only team capable of making Chicago sweat. Hawks goalie Corey Crawford would also no doubt love the opportunity to play the Wings since he has completely dominated the season series, going 4-0 with a mere five goals against.

With the Wings leading after the first period in Anaheim, it appears as if Detroit is making a real push to finish off their tenure in the Western Conference with an epic match-up between the NHL’s most hated rivals.

Chicago would love to bury Detroit one more time before re-alignment banishes them to the east. Meanwhile, the Wings couldn’t write a better script than knocking the top seed Hawks out of the playoffs after a nearly flawless regular season.

So I guess the Hawks are watching some serious drama this evening after all.
