The IIHF World Championship is down to the final four teams.  The Nashville Predators will be well represented when the United States takes on Switzerland in the semifinals on Saturday afternoon.

Predators forward Bobby Butler was a healthy scratch for Team USA in yesterday’s game against Russia, but has four points in the tournament (3G, 1A) while teammate Craig Smith tallied a record of five assists in the game (only the eighth player to do so in the World Championship).  Smith has 12 points (3G, 9A) in the eight games he’s played for the US and is ranked second in scoring for the team and seventh among all players.  They defeated Russia and will will now face Roman Josi and Switzerland for the semifinals.

Switzerland defeated the Czech Republic on Thursday morning to advance to the upcoming semifinals against the United States.  Josi has eight points (3G, 5A) in the eight games he’s played and leads defensemen in scoring.

It will be an interested game between the US and Swiss as the Swiss remain undefeated in the tournament (going 7-0 in the preliminary round).
