Alex Steen Needs to Keep Scoring for St. Louis Blues

It was a very swift exit to the playoffs for the St. Louis Blues as they lost their last four games. As the team gets ready to begin their offseason moves, there should be special attention paid to left winger Alex Steen. He scored three goals in the team’s playoff series after having just eight goals in all of the regular season, and St. Louis needs the playoff Steen to show through in a big way next season.

Every team needs a goal scorer in one way or another. Steen may have found his scoring touch during the playoffs, and that will give him the confidence to take it into next season. St. Louis didn’t have a lot of players who could do anything on a consistent basis this year. I understand that it was a very spread out and even scoring team, but I want one player who can score 25 or 30 goals a season. The best they could manage this year was 18 goals.

It will be a long offseason of discovering what to do next, and Steen could be the lynchpin of whatever the Blues will be able to pull off during the 2013-14 season. I think that St. Louis must go out in free agency to get another player who can put the puck in the net, and that would take pressure off of players like Chris Stewart and Steen. This is a team that could win their division next season if they have the right goaltender in net and can get more scoring out of a player like Steen.
