Vancouver Canucks Want John Tortorella Badly
The Vancouver Canucks have been talking with former New York Rangers coach John Tortorella over the past week or so. They are expected to bring him in for a second interview this week, and it looks like a coaching swap is going to end up happening ultimately.
Alain Vigneault is going to be named coach of the Rangers at some point and it appears like Tortorella is well on his way to becoming the next coach in Vancouver. I have expressed my dislike for this idea and I still don’t think it is the right move to make for the Canucks.
I realize that he has won a Stanley Cup in the past, but his attitude and approach needs to be brought down several notches for this to work. The best thing that could happen for the Canucks is if they were to bring in an assistant coach with Tortorella who could possibly calm him down. You can’t have a coach yelling at players in this day and age and expect it to work out.
Will that happen? It’s going to have to if the Canucks are ever going to realize their potential and finally win a Stanley Cup. There are still a lot of moving parts in this and Vancouver may decide to go in another direction, but all signs point to Tortorella.
