Phoenix Coyotes Arena Situation Needs Resolution

Phoenix Coyotes

We have all heard the stories about the ownership situation with the Phoenix Coyotes. It appeared as if the situation was all figured out but on Tuesday night, the Glendale City Council was unable to settle on an arena deal worth voting on.

This is getting ridiculous now and it’s time for something to happen one way or another. It sounds like that the city council will get together again on Friday according to reports out of Arizona, but this is something that has to be dealt with as soon as possible.

How much longer are the fans going to be in the dark about whether or not their team is going to stay in town? I understand that the financial world isn’t the greatest right now and the new arena would cost $9 million a year more than the city had budgeted but come on now. It sounds like that there is a July 2 deadline on this, which is less than a week away.

I hope that the leaders in Arizona get this figured out before then. The fans deserve better and should be able to keep their team. If they do end up moving, they can blame the city council.

I’m sure Seattle is sitting around waiting very patiently to see what happens with this. They may end up with a team in their lap if the folks in Arizona can’t decide on anything. This is turning into an embarrassment more and more every day and a joke that must be stopped before this month ends.
