Since free agent signings have died down considerably, I thought it would be fun to take some time during this day to talk about the dreaded New York Rangers power play. Can they improve under new head coach Alain Vigneault and assistant coach, who most likely will coach the power play, Scott Arniel?
Of course the power play can improve, but will it?
Unfortunately, I do not know the answer to this question and neither does anyone else. However, I can ask and assume how long the Rangers faithful will give the power play before the grumblings start being heard.
It is fully possible that on the first game of the season, the Rangers do not score a power play goal. If this is the case, then I do pray that windows will remain closed since it would only be one game.
Some might find this silly, but be honest, how long would you give the Rangers power play to score their first PP goal of the season?
Obviously, nothing would have changed if an entire week goes by and the team still doesn’t have any power play goals. But you have to remember that with a new coaching staff comes change, and with change comes growing pains.
All in all, I do believe the Rangers power play will be better this season, but the moral of this story is just remember with all these changes to give it some time. At least the 2013-14 Rangers power play can’t be worse than last years… or can it? I really hope it’s not.
