Top 5 Must-See New York Rangers Road Games In 2013-14 Season
James Guillory-USA TODAY Sports

First, I did the New York Rangers' top five must-see home games of the 2013-14 season, so guess what time it is now?

That's right. You are indeed correct, as it is now time for the top five must-see road games of the 2013-14 season.

I've looked through the schedule, not just for this slideshow but also because the Rangers are my favorite team in any sport, and the Rangers have a lot of exciting road games this season, as well as home games.

If you have not seen the top five must-see Rangers home games of this upcoming 2013-14 season, I will provide the link to that slideshow on the last slide of this slideshow under the related links section.

Now usually I would not put any games against the Rangers rivals, aka the New York Islanders, New Jersey Devils, Philadelphia Flyers and Pittsburgh Penguins because all of those games are must-see if you are a Rangers fan, whether it is home or on the road, and I'm sure every hockey fan feels the same way about when their favorite team plays their rivals as well, but I've made an exception on this particular slideshow.

I won't tell you why though because that will spoil the fun, so you will just have to find out by clicking the next button on the top right and going through all the slides.

Hope you enjoy my top five Rangers road games in 2013-14 slideshow and I don't know about you but I just cannot wait for the puck to drop and hockey to begin.

5. New York Rangers vs Phoenix Coyotes (October 3, 2013)

Opening Day
Matt Kartozian-USA TODAY Sports

It's the first game of the year, opening day or night. Late at night as a matter of fact, since it's a 10 p.m. EST start, but shall I go on?

What hockey fan does not make the first game of the year for your favorite team a priority to watch?

This is why for Rangers' fans, the first game of the season against the Phoenix Coyotes is a must watch and starts off this countdown at No. 5.

4. New York Rangers vs Detroit Red Wings (October 26, 2013)

An Original 6 matchup now with playoff implications.

The once Western Conference Detroit Red Wings are now in the Eastern Conference and will be battling the Rangers all season for playoff positioning. Since every point counts, this is the first game these two teams play each other this season. Being an old Original 6 rivalry that can now be born again after the realignment, this should be a must-watch game early in the season for Rangers' fans.

Not to mention hockey fans, in general, would tune into this game, as these two teams definitely draw a lot of interest, positive and negative, among fans around the league who do not call the Rangers or Red Wings their favorite team.

3. New York Rangers vs Chicago Blackhawks (January 8, 2014)

If the Rangers want to be taken seriously this upcoming 2013-14 season, they need to do a few things better than they did a season ago.

One is to actually score some goals, second is the play better on the road, and third is if you want to be the best than you have to beat the best and right now that is the Chicago Blackhawks.

Last year's Stanley Cup Champion Blackhawks will prove to be one of the biggest, if not the biggest test for the Rangers in 2013-14, and if they can go toe to toe with the Hawks and beat them in Chicago at "The Madhouse," which is a very tough place to play, then the Rangers will definitely open some eyes around the league. Another must-watch game if you a Rangers fan.

2. New York Rangers vs New Jersey Devils @ Yankee Stadium (January 26, 2014)

Remember on the first slide when I said I do not usually put rivalry games in these slideshows because all rivalry games are must watch?

Well I have to make an exception this time because this Rangers vs. New Jersey Devils game is going to be way more special than a normal matchup between these two rivals.

This is because this particular game, on January 26, 2014, will be played outdoors at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx and will be the first of its kind in New York.

The Rangers/Devils rivalry goes back to the early 1990s, and besides the classic playoff games, this game will be arguably the most remembered regular season game these 2 teams have ever played.

And before you ask, yes even though this game will be played not too far from Manhattan, where the Rangers' home is, this outdoor game will be considered a Rangers' road game so how can I possibly not add this?

Without a doubt, it’s a must-watch game. However, it’s not the biggest.

1. New York Rangers vs New York Islanders @ Yankee Stadium (January 29, 2014)

How can it get any better than this?

The "Battle For New York," the Rangers take on the New York Islanders in Yankee Stadium, just a few days after the Rangers vs. Devils game. And yes, like the outdoor game versus the Devils, this game will also be considered a Rangers road game, so like I said on the last slide, how can I possibly not add this?

The Rangers/Islanders rivalry has gone back since the 1970s, when the Islanders were created, and with both teams tied with four Stanley Cups each and with both teams expected to make the playoffs this season, this game should not only be a battle but an all out war.

With all of that being said, this Rangers/Islanders outdoor game at Yankee Stadium is definitely the biggest and most anticipated road game of the season. A must watch for not only Rangers' fans but all hockey fans in New York.

Personally, I think you should NOT have included #1 and #2 out of protest b/c it is absolutely ABSURD that either game let alone both of them have been designated as “road” games for NYR. …smh :(
