The Dallas Stars are still a team looking for some type of continuity. With a new coaching staff and a new system, players are still trying to find their niche. Players like Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin are still trying to fit in together.

Not only are the Stars trying to figure out each other and a new system, they are also playing in a new division this year. Dallas moved from a division in which all of their rivals were on the west coast to a division in which most of the teams are now in the central time zone.

Dallas has started the young season with a mediocre 2-2 record. They didn’t look very good against the Florida Panthers in the season opener nor against the Minnesota Wild in their last outing. Sandwiched between those losses, though, were impressive outings against the Washington Capitals and the Winnipeg Jets.

The Stars have a tough four-game stretch starting tonight, though. Dallas finishes up a three-game road trip in Colorado against the undefeated Colorado Avalanche. On Thursday, Dallas is home against the currently undefeated San Jose Sharks before going out on the road to face the Anaheim Ducks and Los Angeles Kings. The combined record of the four teams is 18-3.

The Stars placed starting goalie Kari Lehtonen on IR Monday and called up Jack Campbell. It stands to reason that backup goalie Dan Ellis will get most of the starting time during the four-game stretch. If Dallas hopes to have a successful four-games, they’re going to need Ellis to play great, but they are also going to need contributions from the offensive side of the puck as well.
