Coming into this season, much was made about the Dallas Stars and the moves they made on and off the ice. From bringing in a new GM and head coach to being involved in major trades, Dallas seemed ready to take the next step.

The biggest move, of course, was trading Loui Erikkson to the Boston Bruins for Tyler Seguin. Although there were other pieces involved in the trade, these were the two big names and the reason the trade was made. Seguin and Stars captain Jamie Benn have been paired together as linemates, and it looked almost certain that these two would pose a viable threat every time down the ice for opposing net minders.

So far, the numbers back this up, as Benn and Seguin are one and two in points for the Stars. The problem isn’t with these two, but it’s where the points are going to come from down the line. Rookie Alex Chiasson leads the Stars with five goals and looks to be the real deal.

Dallas is going to need others to step up and help put the puck in the back of the net. Veteran Alex Goligoski has no points for the Stars this season and is currently minus-ten. Erik Cole and Shawn Horcoff each have three points as well. Kari Lehtonen has played great in his two games back from the IR, but he has to have some help. If Dallas hopes to break the playoff drought, the offense has to be pick up by some key players.
