Cam Talbot’s Play Leads New York Rangers To Win
It was the second game of a back-to-back for the New York Rangers. Alain Vigneault decided to give Henrik Lundqvist the night off and give Cam Talbot the start. Talbot responded by playing out of his mind in the third period to give the Rangers another win.
It was another emotional game as the Rangers were taking on the Columbus Blue Jackets, a team loaded with former Rangers. The Rangers played well until the third period rolled around. Talbot had a relatively normal first two periods before being peppered with shots in the third. When the Rangers were shorthanded late in the third, Talbot played out of his mind for the first minute of the penalty kill.
Talbot has played great in the games he has started this season. He is now 3-1 in his starts and has yet to give up more than two goals. Having a capable backup is huge for the Rangers. Now that the team is finally starting to find their groove, they will need Talbot to start around 20 games this year to keep Lundqvist fresh. If Talbot continues to play well throughout the year, he might even become a valuable trade asset for the Rangers.
For now, the Rangers are feeling great, because they are finally playing good, solid hockey. Talbot has been a part of this and was the one who started the winning ways for the Rangers. He is a big part of this team down the road and led the team to a win on Thursday night.
