Dallas Stars Can't Keep Relying On Kari Lehtonen

Kari Lehtonen has had a solid start to the season for the Dallas Stars, but has to keep turning his game up a few notches for the Stars to remind the rest of the NHL that they’ll be a team to be reckoned with all season. The Stars are 8-6-2 overall but are 7-2-2 with Lehtonen in net.

It’d be ideal if Lehtonen could do what it’s impossible for an NHL goalie to achieve and play just about every game. If he can stay energetic and consistent enough to be in most of Dallas’ games, the Stars will be in good shape.

They’re 1-4 without him, so chances are the Stars aren’t going to win many games without Lehtonen in the net. Right now, he’s among the top goaltenders in the league in goals against average and save percentage. He’s proving on the stat sheet that he’s among the best goalies in the league.

The Stars need to generate more offense and take advantage of Lehtonen’s talents. He was 15-14 last year with a save percentage of .916 and GAA of 2.66. His numbers are more impressive this season, but Lehtonen can’t let up. The Stars need him to keep playing at the top of his game for as long as he possibly can.
