It had all the makings of a let-down game for the New York Rangers. They were riding high after winning two in a row. The Florida Panthers had been losing and had just fired their coach. Henrik Lundqvist decided there would be no let down and led the Rangers to victory.

The Rangers went down 2-1 and the Panthers were beginning to take over. If it wasn’t for Lundqvist, the Rangers could have gone down by a couple of goals. The Rangers would eventually go on the attack and take the lead but Lundqvist still had to make some key saves. The second period was something that would be used on a highlight video if Lundqvist wins the Vezina Trophy this year.

The streak of giving up two goals or less ended, but that does not diminish how great Lundqvist played. He has turned it on over the last few weeks. Now that we know Lundqvist was battling an injury, it makes more sense that he was struggling so badly early in the season. Lundqvist is starting to find his groove, which makes the Rangers even more dangerous than they are. The pieces for this team are starting to fall into place and at the perfect time.

The Rangers are now above .500 for the first time this season. Lundqvist has been the key catalyst for getting this team back to where it needs to be. Now he will have to continue his play if the Rangers want to climb the standings even more.
