Ilya Bryzgalov Tries To Resurrect Career With Edmonton Oilers

The Philadelphia Flyers are where goaltenders’ careers go to die, and Ilya Bryzgalov signing with the Edmonton Oilers is a no-brainer.

I don’t understand why people are surprised. No one should be shocked that an NHL goalie failed in Philadelphia. They have been doing it consistently for the last decade or so. Before Bryzgalov signed with the Flyers, he was an absolute stud for the Phoenix Coyotes. Bryzgalov cemented himself there as a legit no. 1 goalie.

When Ray Emery left the Flyers, he bounced around from team to team before he found a stable place in Chicago. Then the Flyers decide to re-sign him, which is absolutely mind-blowing. Did anyone in the Flyers organization realize that I could have played in goal for the Chicago Blackhawks? They are a solid team that plays good defense. How can they be surprised when they bring him back and he’s awful?

Lets not forget to mention Sergei Bobrovsky. He left the Flyers and ended up winning the Vezina. If that’s not a slap in the face to an organization, I don’t know what is.

At this point, it’s on the Flyers organization for having no identity and having a team that doesn’t play two-way hockey. Unfortunately, Bryzgalov is going to an Oilers team that isn’t the greatest, but has a ton of potential. I hope he plays well there do what Bobrovsky did to the Flyers.
