Rick Nash is finally back on the ice for the New York Rangers. It had been over a month since Nash suffered his second concussion in the past year. He is finally back skating, but he must take things really slow.
The Rangers have put a lot into Nash, and he is now the centerpiece of the franchise. Ever since Marian Gaborik was traded Nash is now the guy on the Rangers. No matter how much time he misses the Rangers must make sure he is ready to go for the stretch run. Nash will obviously not be putting up a ridiculous amount of points this season as he has already missed 15 games and is likely to miss more.
There is still not set timetable for when Nash is supposed to return. He said last week that his conditioning is his main problem right now. He claims to be symptom free and today was allowed to take part in a full practice with contact. If I were a betting man I would guess that Nash will back with the Rangers by the end of the month. A possible return date that seems likely to me is the November 29 matchup against the Boston Bruins. This would be a scary game to ease Nash back into as his first concussion last year was at the hands of the Bruins and Milan Lucic.
It is great to see Nash back on the ice finally, and now they must ease him back instead of rushing him. The Rangers need Nash to be 100 percent for the rest of this year and future seasons.
