Things Get Tougher For Columbus Blue Jackets After Marian Gaborik’s Injury
The bad start to the season that the Columbus Blue Jackets suffered will now be even more difficult to turn around.
When it seemed like things couldn’t be more dire for the franchise, it has been confirmed that Marian Gaborik, their most talented offensive player, will be out for at least 4-6 weeks according to several reports.
Gaborik hadn’t been able to make much of an impact in the struggling Jackets’ offense, but his loss clearly hampers the ambition that the team has of turning things around. Even though he only has 11 points in 17 games this season, at least he had been able to appear in the lineup regularly, so this injury is another setback in a career that has been plagued by physical problems for the former New York Rangers forward.
In his 14-year career, Gaborik has been able to play 80 games only twice, so it comes as no surprise the fact that he’ll be out due to injuries. The problem lies in the fact that these last years, Gaborik appeared to have left behind the injury issues; so if this latest setback is an indication of things to come, things won’t look bright for the Blue Jackets in the near future.
The team is already at the bottom of the Metropolitan Division with a 6-10-2 record, and the absence of Gaborik will really hamper the chances of the team as they go further into the schedule. The former Minnesota Wild star has been able to score 40 goals in three separate seasons, so he’s a threat to create offense in any given time.
With the franchise struggling as badly as they have been this year, Gaborik’s presence was even more important for them to right the ship sooner rather than later.
