After defeating the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday night, the Philadelphia Flyers get a break in between games before hosting the New York Islanders on Saturday night.

The Flyers have been showing signs that they are taking this season seriously, as they are heading into the game with another two-game win streak underneath their belt. It also doesn’t hurt their chances that the last time the Flyers faced the Islanders, they defeated them 5-2.

That game was in Long Island, where the Flyers tend to play really well out. That game was also one of the last ones where Matt Moulson played in a Isles jersey, as he was traded to the Sabres soon after. In that game, he didn’t seem to give the Flyers too much of a hard time, but Fran Nielsen certainly did. With the most goals scored on the team so far, he’ll continue to be a thorn in the Flyers side come Saturday.

The Flyers and the Isles are neck-and-neck in the standing right now, so they will really be fighting in this game for the win to one up their opponent. At 14th and 15th in the Eastern Conference, both teams really need that W if they want to be back in the playoffs this offseason.

For the Flyers, Matt Read should be a player to watch along with Vincent Lecavalier. Both have been pretty consistent over the past few weeks, and have been working hard to get the puck to the net as much as possible.
