The Boston Bruins have the best fourth line in the NHL, and yes it is absolutely something to brag about. Most teams in the NHL are looking for top six forwards to provide them with two competitive lines, but the Bruins have four. The Bruins have been getting point production from Shawn Thornton, Gregory Campbell, and Daniel Paille for the past few games which does a few things for the team.
For starters it alleviates pressure from players like Jarome Iginla, Milan Lucic, David Krejci, and Brad Marchand to produce points. These guys are able to go out and play without forcing the issue. This allows the Bruins to play within themselves and to stay within their element. This causes the Bruins not to force anything and not to press when they don’t have to. The fourth line for the Bruins has always been known to play great defense and to get under the skin of some of the top lines in the league. The fourth line also has some of the best fighters in the NHL. Campbell and Thornton are two of the toughest guys in the NHL and are not afraid to throw down with anyone in the league when it comes to fighting.
The fact that the Bruins are getting points out of the fourth line is just an added bonus. This line consists of character guys who are the heart and soul of the Bruins and their organization. They are the definition of a Boston Bruin. If they can keep up the point production then sky is the limit for this team. If they can’t sustain the point production then don’t worry about it because these guys provide energy and veteran leadership that is irreplaceable.
