NHL Preview: Philadelphia Flyers Visit Tampa Bay Lightning
The Flyers are fresh from a 3-1 loss at the hands of the Florida Panthers, so they have a lot to make up for on Wednesday. The team played incredibly sloppy on Monday, which is what led the Panthers to overpower them offensively. If the team wants to make up for their mistakes, they have to play a more disciplined game on Wednesday.
The game will mean a lot for the team, as it will be the first time that former Lightning captain Vincent Lecavalier will face off against his former team since pulling on an orange and black sweater. It will be a emotional time for Lightning fans, and even more for Lecavalier as he tries to help the Flyers defeat his former team.
Both teams are coming into this game with some uncertainty. The Flyers just lost in regulation for the first time in eight games, and the Lightning are coming off of a poor four-game road series showing. Both teams are going to be trying to redeem themselves come Wednesday night.
The Flyers will definitely look to Lecavalier for some help at cracking his former team. They will also be expecting Matt Read to continue charging at their opponent’s net. Read was on point all last week, and the Flyers will expect him to continue being an offensive powerhouse.
The Flyers do need to be on the alert for Martin St.Louis. He has always been pretty solid for the team, and in Steve Stamkos‘ injury absence he has really taken the helm for the team. The Flyers really need to watch him as he comes into their zone Wednesday night.
