Chicago faced the Stars in the second to last game of the trip. If you recall, the game was a showing of how the Hawks had been out on the road for too long as was evident in that the team was beginning to show major signs of tedium. This is even more evident when we remember the shootout that lasted 11 rounds.
This game against the Stars led the Hawks to a five-game winning streak, which was furthered with an energized version of the Blackhawks out on the ice against the Phoenix Coyotes.
The momentum gained from the trip will hopefully carry Chicago to another victory against Dallas. The team is currently one of the best in the NHL and seem to be gaining momentum with each new week of competition.
The fact of the matter is that the Stars have the ability to give the Hawks a run for their money. It will be important for the Blackhawks to focus on keeping the puck out of their own zone as is the case with the skating that has occurred against the Stars.
A benefit of this impending matchup is that the Stars have a difficult time outlasting the stamina of the Blackhawks, as is true with most teams they skate against. Chicago is known for being one of the fastest teams in the league, and they also have the ability to outlast their opponents. It will be important for the Hawks to capitalize on that ability to defeat the Stars.
All of the statistics between these two teams point toward Chicago as an easy victor, especially when you recall that the Hawks have a six-game winning record over the Stars. It will be important for Chicago to keep a level head as they make their way back to United Center ice and be mindful of their competition.
