New York Rangers Can’t Get More Than A Game Over .500
The New York Rangers just can’t get more than one game over the .500 mark. The Rangers dropped a disappointing game to the Winnipeg Jets 5-2 at Madison Square Garden on Monday night. The Rangers have alternated wins and losses over their last six games.
The Rangers inconsistent play has been a problem all season long and it showed up again against the Jets. The Rangers had a lethargic performance. These are the types of games that good teams do not lose. When you are playing against a struggling team at home, you must capitalize on that. It makes even worse that the Rangers scored the first goal of the game. The Rangers had only lost one previous game when they scored the first goal of the game.
The upcoming home stand is crucial for the Rangers. If they want to put together some wins and be considered a good team, they can’t afford to lose games like this one. It is just an inexcusable loss. Too many players are playing mediocre right now and the teams .500 record shows that. Players like Derick Brassard, Ryan Callahan, Derek Stepan and even the king himself Henrik Lundqvist must start playing better if they want to get a winning streak going.
Right now, Alain Vigneault, the fan base, the players and the management are definitely not happy with the inconsistent performances they have been showing. Only the players can change that though. It is about time for this team to step up and finally live up to their expectations.
