During the New York Rangers‘ off day, head coach Alain Vigneault was asked a question about Derick Brassard and his injury, who I did not know was even hurt or playing since he’s been invisible this whole season. Vigneault responded to the question by chuckling and saying that Brassard has a sore butt and should be fine to play in tomorrow’s game.
Well tomorrow rolled around and Brassard was nowhere to be found on the ice, but only literally this time as he was scratched. Obviously his butt somehow worsened over night.
I don’t know about you, but that seems like a pretty weak injury for a hockey player to be kept out of a game. I have to call Brassard out and question if he has given up on his team and really does not want to be there anymore.
When your team is struggling mightily to score goals and win games, yet you have the talent to help your team win and let a sore backside make you miss a game it seems like a lack of caring to me.
Do you think Mark Messier, Adam Graves, or even Esa Tikkanen would miss a game due to a sore butt?
I can’t even say Vigneault was downplaying Brassard’s injury because he was laughing when he said it to the media after practice two days ago.
It is obvious this Rangers team needs some major changes, and maybe Brassard is one of those guys soon to be on their way out.
