Dallas Stars Top Winnipeg Jets behind Strong Scoring Output

Bruce Fedyck – USA TODAY Sports

The Dallas Stars played one of their best offensive games of the season so far against the Winnipeg Jets.

The team has been quite solid playing on the road this campaign and they wanted to shake the rust of a loss against the Nashville Predators, something that was definitively accomplished as the Stars had a spectacular scoring performance and netted six times on their route to a 6-4 win against the Jets.

Both Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn led the team offensively, like they have done through much of the season. Each scored two goals and the former Boston Bruins star also notched two assists on his route to end up with four points. Rookie sensation Valeri Nichushkin and Colton Sceviour – who scored his first NHL goal today – also found the back of the net.

Something very positive about the Stars’ performance today was the play of their special teams. It is known that the Stars have struggled with their power play unit all season long and their penalty killing hasn’t been special but today things changed. Dallas scored two PPG and only allowed one in four chances, a great improvement after what happened against the Predators.

As usual, the Stars still need to correct several things particularly on the defensive side of the puck, as you’re not going to win many games when conceding four goals. However, the Stars’ offensive firepower was enough to give them a win this time and these two points could be very useful in the race for a playoff spot in the final weeks of the regular season.
