Tonight’s Game a Must-Win for Philadelphia Flyers?
The Philadelphia Flyers will be starting a six-game road trip tonight against the Edmonton Oilers. The Oilers enter tonight’s contest as the worst team in the Western Conference. The Flyers are obviously going to cream these guys, right? Don’t hold your breath just yet. Not only is this going to be a tough game for the Flyers, but it honestly might be a must-win game. There is a lot more riding on this game than one would think.
Edmonton has been bullied around since the beginning of the season. Their mentality is to not let a team come into their house and push them around once again. They’re young and hungry. With absolutely nothing to lose and everything to gain at this point in the season, expect Edmonton to come out firing early and keep the shots raining throughout the duration of the contest.
The Flyers have been getting bullied themselves this season and it’s been against teams like Edmonton. They can’t let another easy game slip away from them.
Philadelphia will want to start this road trip off on a good note. Edmonton might be an easy start, but the Flyers have some tough opponents ahead. The Vancouver Canucks, Colorado Avalanche and Phoenix Coyotes will also host the Flyers on their trip.
With four teams right behind them for the eighth and final playoff spot, three in their own division, Philadelphia would love to give themselves some space between those teams.
The plus side to this game is that Edmonton has given up the most goals in the NHL this season. As long as the orange and black shoot often, they should be able to complete tonight’s objective in beating the Oilers.
