Philadelphia Flyers’ Matt Read To Play Against Buffalo Sabres?

matt read may be in lineup vs buffalo sabres

The Philadelphia Flyers had a rough weekend, especially since they broke their home winning streak in their loss against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday. They didn’t have much luck on the road, as per usual, as they dropped a 4-1 game to the New York Rangers on Sunday night. The team will try to bounce back from a disappointing weekend of games as they travel to upstate New York to visit the Buffalo Sabres.

The Flyers have some positives to look at since the last time they played the Sabres (they won 4-1). The Flyers also have a better overall and last 10 game record; not by much, but the 7-3-0 Flyers have the better odds than the 5-3-2 Sabres. Also factor in the fact that the Sabres are a team that have struggled for a long time.

The Sabres are coming off a win and they have won their last six out of eight at home, so they are hoping to bounce off that and win another against the Flyers. The Flyers’ key issue in their last couple of games was that they were not playing defensively. This has been a problem for the team for years, so they are consistent at not being good at guarding their net. They’ll need to change that come Tuesday. They also need to find a way to defeat the Sabres x-factor, goaltender Ryan Miller.

There is some good news coming out of the Flyers’ camp. Matt Read just might be back on the ice with the team. Read has been out for quite some time, and the team announced last week that he did indeed suffer a concussion. It’s a bit soon since the announcement, but he had been off the ice for quite some time. If he is ready to be back, the team needs to hope that it is the right time. In his absence, Wayne Simmonds has really been lighting up the lamp, so the top line will have to be on their game as they take on the Sabres.
