New York Rangers Can’t Finish In Tough Loss
The New York Rangers were riding high after winning three-straight games and four of their last five. They even scored the first goal in tonight’s tilt against the Tampa Bay Lightning. But Ben Bishop ended up shutting down the Rangers again and preserving the win for the Lightning.
Bishop has become a real pain in the butt for the Rangers. They have played him five times over the past two seasons and he has yet to lose in those five starts. The big goalie did a masterful job of shutting the Rangers down tonight. He also got some help from the post as the Rangers dinged three off. Brad Richards was the only player to solve Bishop as he totaled 34 saves for the win.
The Rangers dominated the game, but Bishop’s play was too much in net. It really goes to show you how a hot goalie can steal a game on the road. It is something Henrik Lundqvist has done a lot for the Rangers and they got a taste of their own medicine tonight. Hopefully the Rangers can avoid the Lightning if both teams make the playoffs because Bishop is looking like a Rangers menace.
The Rangers can’t afford to get discouraged by a tough loss. They played a pretty darn good hockey game and were going to need some puck luck in order to beat Bishop. They need to work on their finishing ability, but other than that, the Rangers are in a pretty good place right now.
