Philadelphia Flyers Aim For Redemption Against Columbus Blue Jackets
The Philadelphia Flyers did not win the actual fight for the win as they dropped to the Carolina Hurricanes at the Wells Fargo Center on Wednesday night. The Flyers were sluggish and played a sloppy hockey game overall , but they won’t have too much time to think about it post-game, as they will immediately head to travel to Columbus, OH.
The Flyers will face off against the Columbus Blue Jackets from the Nationwide Arena on Wednesday night. It is likely that they will be going up against former teammate Sergei Bobrovsky, who is likely to guard the net for the Blue Jackets. It is plausible that former Blue Jackets goalie Steve Mason will be in the net, but after the Flyers’ loss to the Hurricanes, it’s possible he may be backing up Ray Emery.
Claude Giroux was key in the Flyers’ last game, having logged a goal and an assist to try to help his team out. Despite the loss, Wayne Simmonds continued his point streak, having logged a point from his assist on Scott Hartnell‘s power play goal on. Expect these two to try to bring the team back on Thursday night.
The Flyers last played the Blue Jackets in December in back-to-back games and split those games, so Thursday night’s matchup could go either way. The Flyers will need to keep an watchful eye out for RJ Umberger, who was key in the Flyers’ win against the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday. Team leader in points, Ryan Johansen, was also a contributor and is another player to watch come Thursday.
