The New York Rangers are in a fight for their playoff lives, they but made a statement by beating the Ottawa Senators 8-4. The team as a whole stepped up their offensive production, yet more must be done. Who are the five players the team needs to turn to so that the Rangers make it into the postseason?

St. Louis has struggled to make an impact in the seven games he has played so far for the Rangers. However, when he has gotten on the score sheet he has been very noticeable. A creative player with good hands, he must continue to use his playmaking abilities. The goals will come as he was a major contributor for the Tampa Bay Lightning all season. He must step up to get his new team into the playoffs.

Ryan McDonagh is the anchor of the blue line. He provides reliable defending while also stepping up and pinching into the offensive zone to create scoring chances. He is the best defenseman the Rangers have had since Brian Leetch and plays in all situations, including with the man-advantage as well as when the Rangers are shorthanded. If he continues his reliable play, he will have a huge impact on the Rangers' postseason hopes.

It has been a disappointing season for Rick Nash to say the least. Despite leading the team in goals with 22, he has not put forth a consistent effort game in and game out. When he is not on the score sheet, it is hard to identify that he is playing at all. That level of production is unacceptable from a player being paid to lead a team and score goals.

A hand injury during the Olympics really derailed the phenomenal season that Mats Zuccarello was having. Before the injury, he was leading the team in scoring and was having an impact in every game with his high energy level and creativity. Now, it seems as though the injury may still be nagging as he has not been able to continue his production. He needs to brush off this injury to boost the Rangers' offense.

Maybe it's obvious, but the Rangers live and die by Henrik Lundqvist. One of the top goaltenders in the league, Lundqvist has had a subpar season by his standards. While he sorted out his game for the month and a half before Sochi, he has fallen back into inconsistency. While the team's recent play is not a direct result of him, Lundqvist must provide excellent goaltending if the Rangers want any chance of success this season.
