Is It Time For Dallas Stars To Press The Panic Button?
The Dallas Stars came off of a stretch in which they beat the Buffalo Sabres, Vancouver Canucks, Minnesota Wild and St. Louis Blues and found themselves holding the No. 8 spot in the playoff seeding. However, three straight losses now had the Stars in an unfavorable position.
Dallas came into the game against the Philadelphia Flyers two points behind the Phoenix Coyotes for the final spot. After a 4-2 loss in Philadelphia, Dallas could find themselves down four points by the end of the night for that final spot.
Dallas hasn’t been to the playoffs in a long time. Each and every year, they have to watch 16 other teams battle for Lord Stanley’s Cup. This was the year of promise for the Stars. Adding players like Tyler Seguin, Erik Cole and Rich Peverley were supposed to bring this team back to the playoffs.
Everything seemed to be going as planned until the past week. Obviously, there’s plenty of time for the Stars to make up four points, but the problem is the offensive struggles they’ve been having. Jamie Benn and Seguin have been the most consistent offensive weapons. This is no surprise because that’s what they have done all season.
The question is whether or not the Stars should worry and start panicking. The fans of Dallas are hungry for playoffs, as are the players and coaching staff. The time for losing is over. Dallas needs to figure out this funk and fast. Otherwise, the Stars will be watching the playoffs on their couches.
