Entire New York Rangers’ Team To Be At Martin St. Louis’ Mother’s Funeral On Sunday
Martin St. Louis and the rest of the New York Rangers all keep saying in interviews that this team gets closer and closer by the day. Nothing shows this more than the news that was released today. According to various reports, the entire Rangers team will be joining St. Louis and his family at the funeral of St. Louis’ mother on Sunday in Montreal.
The Rangers will be in Montreal to begin their third round best of seven playoff series vs. the Montreal Canadiens, with Game 1 being on Saturday and Game 2 being on Monday. But the entire team’s proximity to the funeral does not automatically suggest that they would all attend the funeral. I’ve unfortunately attended quite a few funerals in my life and usually only family and close friends are the ones that go. Since St. Louis has only been on the Rangers since the trade deadline, it goes to show how quickly this Rangers’ team has accepted him as not only a friend but part of a family.
I hate to say it, but I don’t know if the Rangers would have come back from being down 3 games to 1 vs. the Pittsburgh Penguins if it weren’t for the team rallying around the tragic death of St. Louis’ mother. The unconditional love these players have for a teammate who has barely been on the team speaks volumes to what kind of a person and how special a human being St. Louis is.
