The Philadelphia Flyers are coming off a disappointing first-round loss to the Stanley Cup Finalist New York Rangers. In is a new general manager in Ron Hextall, and there are sure to be some changes on both offense and defense in tweaking the team in his image.

Let's take a look at the five biggest Philadelphia Flyers rumors heading into the 2014 offseason.

The Philadelphia Flyers made a regime change. Out is Paul Holmgren, who is now team president, and in is former Flyers legend Ron Hextall. Hextall helped build the Kings squad that is looking for a second cup in the last three seasons. Hextall wants to bring more overall speed to the team and wants improved play on the back end. If he works the same magic with the Flyers, fans will be more than thrilled.

The Philadelphia Flyers frankly looked like a slow and plodding team compared to the Rangers and other teams in the playoffs. That needs to change. Scott Hartnell really seemed to slow the top line down. It is possible he and a guy like Braydon Coburn could be on the move for draft picks or cap room. They simply don't fit Ron Hextall and head coach Craig Berube's style of play.

Kimmo Timonen is 39 years old and will turn 40 in March. He looks to be slowing down considerably and just isn't the player he once was. Add that to the fact that the Flyers have quite a few kids ready to come up to the big club and it makes Timonen's future murky. I believe Timonen sticks it out for one more year to allow the kids time to develop, but 2013 being his final season in orange and black would hardly be a surprise.

One of the Philadelphia Flyers' biggest needs last season was a speedy, shoot first left winger to pair with Claude Giroux and Jake Voracek on the top line. Nobody they used there worked. The Flyers need to go out and acquire one in any way possible. Evander Kane would be the perfect fit as a speedy, young guy with star potential. The Flyers may have to part with some young talent to make it happen, but it's a risk worth taking.

Ever since Chris Pronger's devastating injury the Flyers have lacked a true No. 1 defenseman. Will this be the year they make a big splash and push all their chips in the middle? It is possible. The draft is in Philly, so you know there will be added pressure to make a big move. Shea Weber is a guy the Flyers have coveted for a while. Will they part with young talent like Brayden Schenn and Matt Read to get him in the fold? Time will tell.
