After acquiring several players over the past few years, the Columbus Blue Jackets look like a completely different team than what they used to be. It's time the Blue Jackets build around these players and create a championship worthy team.
Sergei Bobrovsky has been a hero for the Columbus Blue Jackets. Before he was acquired in a trade with the Philadelphia Flyers, the Blue Jackets looked hopeless. Now, they just finished their franchise’s second-ever NHL Playoff run. They lost in the first round against the Pittsburgh Penguins, but the Blue Jackets gave them a run for their money. If Bobrovsky has the proper backup, he will be able to lead his team farther in the playoffs.
Artem Anisimov could be the key to building an essential third line. In 81 regular season games, Anisimov scored 22 goals and posted a total of 39 points. He has proven to be versatile, which is a sought-after quality in a hockey player.
Brandon Dubinsky is perfect in his role as a second liner, scoring 16 goals and posting a total of 50 points in the regular season. Aside from being a huge goal scorer for the Blue Jackets, he is also two-way forward.
Jack Johnson’s NHL career was off to a rocky start, but he has since then proven to be a defensive necessity for the Blue Jackets. This Olympian led his team in playoff scoring with three goals and seven points in their six game series against the Penguins.
Boone Jenner is young, hard-hitting and just getting warmed up. During Jenner’s first year in the NHL, he scored 16 goals and posted a total of 29 points; he also scored three goals and gained two assists in six playoff games. Jenner is a forward the Blue Jackets need to build around to create that unstoppable force that will get them closer to the Stanley Cup Finals.
