The Florida Panthers finished 29th in the league last season and have made the playoffs only once since 2000. Needless to say, the Panthers are in dire need of help. Fully rebuilding a team can't happen overnight, but if the Panthers begin to build around their best players, they will be able to slowly dig themselves out of the hole they've buried themselves in.

Scottie Upshall posted the third highest amount of points for the Panthers last year. Upshall is a fierce competitor and would be a great veteran player to build around.

Roberto Luongo hasn’t been so hot between the pipes, but he’s one of the bigger hopefuls for the Panthers. If the Panthers could build a strong defense around Luongo, it would help his goadltending drastically.

3. Sean Bergenheim

In the 62 games that Sean Bergenheim played last year, he scored 16 goals and posted 13 assists for a total of 29 points. Bergenheim is a tremendous skater and takes advantage of scoring opportunities when he is in possession of the puck. Bergenheim would be another great veteran player to build around.

Aleksander Barkov is just 18 years old and has already been a competitor in the Olympics. In Barkov's first NHL season, he posted a total of 24 points in 54 games. Barkov has a bright future in the NHL and is one of the younger players the Panthers should consider building around.

Nick Bjugstad led the Panthers in points last year with 16 goals and 22 assists. Bjugstad has the size, talent and leadership ability to lead the Panthers in the right direction. Bjugstad is another young player with a bright future ahead of him that should be built around.
