The stereotype has always been “hockey players get all the girls,” which has led more than a few young men to pick up the game (guilt). In the case of some NHL players, they are the second most famous person in their relationship. With more and more NHL players dating starlets, don’t expect that trend to end anytime soon.
Jordin Tootoo Healthy
Despite breaking up over six years ago Tootoo and former girlfriend Kellie Pickler started the country music star/hockey romance before anyone else. The two dated when Tootoo was playing for the Nashville Predators and their breakup became the title of Pickler’s hit song “Best Days of Your Life” .
The defenseman scored the overtime winner to clinch the Western Conference and Stanley Cup for the Los Angeles. Rumors have been circulating for months that he has been dating Fox Sports’ Molly McGrath and the two embraced at center ice when the Kings won the Cup in June.
The hulking blue liner has made a name for himself with his powerful shot from the point and abilities on the power play, but his fiancé Barbie Blank has made her name known in the ring. “Kelly Kelly”, as she goes by on stage is a WWE wrestler and former beauty queen from Florida and became engaged to the Anaheim Ducks defenseman in early August.
Detroit’s captain has won a Stanley Cup, a Conn Smyth and an Olympic Gold Medal, but isn’t the only famous person in his house, Emma Andersson. Andersson was a pop sensation and TV Host in Sweden before moving to Detroit to be with Zetterberg.
While Miller is settling into the crease in Vancouver his wife TV Actress will be starring in another season of ‘Anger Management’ alongside notorious bad boy Charlie Sheen. Canucks fans hope Miller borrows Sheen’s mantra of “Winning” in his first season in Vancouver.
The Toronto Maple Leafs captain is married to 24 star Elisha Cuthbert and while he may have himself a following, it’s nothing compared to one of Jack Bauer’s costars. Cuthbert also once dated former pest Sean Avery, but that ended, to put it bluntly, rather poorly.
While he may have just become teammates with someone else on this list, Neal has been going steady with Yahoo Sports sideline reporter Melanie Collins for about six months. Don’t be surprised to see her covering more than a few SEC football games this season with Neal now calling Nashville home.
He may not be the most high-profile player on his own team, but Laich has the most high-profile girlfriend. Laich has been dating singer/actress/dancer Julianne Hough for much of 2014. No word on if the romance is what cursed the Capitals into missing the playoffs this season.
The two-time Stanley Cup champion is famous in his own right, but his girlfriend, TV host Erin Andrews, is a household name across the spectrum. Andrews is not Stoll’s first famous significant other as he was once engaged to model Rachel Hunter.
Fisher’s marriage to Carrie Underwood was supposedly a factor in him leaving Ottawa for the Music City in 2011. While hockey fans everywhere know Fisher, everyone’s heard Carrie on the radio and you’d be hard pressed to find someone who isn’t a fan of hers (outside of Ottawa of course).
