The Los Angeles Kings have been lucky to keep their core nucleus of players from their two Stanley Cup championship team intact. Having said that, the Kings will have work to do in the next 12 months to ensure they do not lose some of their most important pieces in free agency in the summer of 2015.

The former Barrie Colt showed deft playmaking ability throughout the playoffs as he was an integral part of the team winning the Stanley Cup. Expect the team to lock up the 2012 first-round pick before he is eligible for offer sheets as a restricted free agent next summer.

Pearson’s fellow rookie linemate is a pure goal scorer that has the chance to be a perennial 25-35 goal threat and will be a restricted free agent next summer. Look for the Kings to lock up the former Ottawa 67 and ensure the youngster hits his stride in Los Angeles.

The Stanley Cup winning goal scorer made a paltry .1 million last season and will be an unrestricted free agent when the market opens up next summer. The Kings will work to re-sign the defenseman, but don’t expect the Kings to overspend on Martinez despite his place in franchise history.

2. Jarret Stoll

Stoll is an unrestricted free agent next season and the Kings will surely work to keep the veteran center as his game has been integral to the Kings being a successful team. A two- or three-year deal worth about million is in line for “Mr. Erin Andrews.”

The 2014 Conn Smythe winner came up aces throughout the playoffs for the Kings. Look for the team to lock up the veteran winger to ensure he ends his career in Los Angeles with hopefully some more hardware in his collection.
