It has been announced that the NHL will be ready to expand to four cities by 2014. Toronto will possibly be given a second team, Las Vegas will be given a chance to cheer for a professional team, and Seattle will have a team to cheer for throughout the winter for the first time since the Sonics left. The final city is Quebec City. They once had a team, but will build a new arena for a new team. Should they go the way of the Winnepeg Jets?

The Bulldogs has been a name that has circulated the internet for the new Quebec team. I am not 100 percent on board, but maybe I can get used to it. It just seems like it is more suited for a college team, despite the fact that they were once the Bulldogs back in the 1920's.

Seriously, how is it the only franchise to take advantage of an awesome name like the Lynx is a WNBA team? Hockey would be perfect for this cold-weather cat.

Did you know that Quebec City had a battle in the Revolutionary War? While the British still ended up with the city until 1871, this was a key fight. Although Canada doesn't care much about the American Revolution, that is still a killer name. It could also represent the fact that they are rebranding the team.

Did you know that the Owl is the province bird for Quebec? The Owls aren't overused like every other bird in sports. You could corner that market; you could also bring in some fair-weather fans who love owls. You know there will be some people who don't know hockey who would still buy an Owls sweater (and yes, these teams are thinking about that).

The Quebec Nordiques is a confusing name to most, but there are worse in professional sports (just look at some of the NBA mascots). It is time to go back to the old name. Even though all it really means is "northern," many still associate the name with the city.
