The Ottawa Senators are coming off a very disappointing 2013-14 season in which a previously dominant defensive system completely collapsed, but it's doubtful that they will struggle in their own zone to the same degree in 2014-15. Here are five games on Ottawa's schedule this year that you don't want to miss.

If the Senators are going to step back into relevance this season, they'll need to prove capable of putting in good showings against the elite teams of the Eastern Conference. This November match-up with the Boston Bruins will be their first opportunity to do so.

The Senators are part of a glut of playoff bubble teams, including their division rival Toronto Maple Leafs. When the two teams face off on April 5th, a playoff spot will probably be on the line for at least one of them.

Ottawa opens up its home schedule against the Colorado Avalanche on October 16th, a match-up that will be the Senators' first meaningful game at the Canadian Tire Centre in just over six months.

Dany Heatley, now a member of the Anaheim Ducks, remains one of the most disliked sports figures in Ottawa even after being out of town for six years. There should be an extra charge or two added to the atmosphere of this December game, and it won't be because of holiday cheer.

Jason Spezza, who requested a trade from the Senators last summer and was subsequently flipped to the Dallas Stars, returns to Ottawa with his new team on January 29th. The situation is certainly polarizing; it will be interesting to see how Senators fans receive Spezza before and during the game.
