The Sharks looked dominant in a 4-0 shutout of the Kings on the opening night of the season, and appear to have the goods to maintain that edge over Los Angeles all season long. The Sharks' players have watched their team get trashed in the media all summer long, and even their misguided general manager decided to join in on the verbal lashing. Motivation certainly won't be lacking.

Joe Thornton has aged incredibly gracefully and has retained many of the skills that made him one of the league's top-five players a decade ago. With the talent he'll have on his wings, 85 points is more than attainable.
