Los Angeles Kings Are Benefitting From Jarrett Stoll’s Hot-Streak
In the early goings of the 2014-15 NHL season, the Los Angeles Kings were carried mostly by “That 70’s Line” of Jeff Carter, Tanner Pearson and Tyler Toffoli. The offense has been more diverse as of late and one player is finally starting to produce offensively is center Jarret Stoll, who has in many ways passed struggling center Mike Richards on the depth chart.
Stoll had a measly one point through the team’s first 16 games and looked like he was just having an all-around tough go of it. In the team’s last four games, in which they posted a 3-1 record, Stoll has five points on two goals and three assists. For a team that has struggled offensively during regular season over the last few years getting solid offense from a player like Stoll is a plus.
While the offense is a nice spark for the Kings, Stoll’s versatility and ability to do the proverbial “little things” is what makes him such a valuable cog in the Kings’ machine. As the season goes on, having Stoll winning faceoffs, killing penalties and blocking shots will be one facet that keeps this Kings squad rolling off wins.
With Richards still struggling this season offensively, his days in L.A. could possibly be numbered. Stoll should be expected to see a slight uptick in offensive chances until Richards hits his stride, or is moved, and having such a bevy of options is just a part of what makes this Kings team such a dangerous threat in the Western Conference.
