Vladimir Tarasenko

Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

The St. Louis Blues are currently first in the Central Division and second in the Western Conference. In the month of December, the Blues are currently riding a four-game winning streak after a successful November. One major aspect of the Blues’ success has been the phenomenal play of Vladimir Tarasenko, who is without a doubt the Blues’ MVP so far this season.

Tarasenko joined the Blues in 2013 and immediately became an integral part of the roster. So far in the 2014-15 season, he has already scored multiple highlight-reel goals and proven himself as one of the league’s best. His knack for putting himself in the right position and finding the back of the net make him superstar material and make the Blues one step closer to the deep playoff run they’ve been looking for.

So far, Tarasenko has 17 goals and 14 assists this season, currently leading the Blues in both goals and points. He’s also eighth in the league in points, fourth in goals and second in plus-minus. He was the NHL second star for the month of November and he doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon. He is exactly what the Blues have needed for years now in order to be true cup contenders, a bona fide goal scorer who can lead the team offensively while being defensively responsible.

It’s going to be a fun season to watch unfold, especially in regard to young Tarasenko, the answer to many of the Blues’ previously asked questions. If he continues at this pace, he will continue to be the asset the Blues have been looking for.
