Tyler Seguin

Ever since the Boston Bruins traded him due to on-ice compete level and speculation of off-ice antics, Tyler Seguin has been lighting up the lamp in Dallas. Despite the Dallas Stars’ dreadful start, Sequin has been spectacular and is definitely the team’s MVP so far this season. Even with the team’s slow start, Sequin hasn’t had any issue finding the score sheet on most nights. In fact, he’s one of the best scorers in the NHL right now, if not the very best.

The proof is in the stats. Currently, Sequin leads the league in points with 38, goals with 23 and game-winning goals with four. Sequin is five goals ahead of second-place goal scorer Rick Nash. He is an offensive powerhouse and dominates just about every game he plays in with his speed and the quick release of his shot.

The most impressive part of Seguin’s play is who he is playing for. It’s much easier to play well and put up big numbers when your team is playing well, but that’s not the case with Dallas. Currently, the Stars aren’t even in the playoff race, mired in 11th place in the Western Conference. The fact that Sequin is leading the league in goals on a team that has only won 11 of 29 games is impressive.

If the Stars are going to have a chance to make the playoffs, Sequin is going to have to lead the way and continue his offensive dominance, and the rest of the team is going to have to figure out how to follow his lead.
