The New York Rangers are currently one of the hottest teams in the NHL, riding a six-game winning streak, but they need to keep it up if they want to maintain decent position in the standings. While the team is playing very well as a whole, here are five Rangers who need to step up in 2015.

Hagelin is a valuable penalty killer and always has the chance to make plays with his speed, but the Rangers could use a little more offense out of him. Hagelin has seven goals on the season, but his last two were empty-net goals. While Hagelin plays an important role on the team, he needs to put a few more in the net.

The Rangers acquired Boyle hoping to boost offensive production from the defense, but it hasn’t been a good start for Boyle as the veteran has two goals and no assists to this point. Boyle did miss a little less than a month with a broken hand, but he still hasn’t made a big enough impact in the 15 games he has played. The Rangers need more from all of their defensemen offensively, but Boyle is the one who they would really like to get on a roll.

After leading the team in points last season, Zuccarello hasn’t produced nearly as well this season. He always plays hard and makes an impact with his effort, but the Rangers need him to put up more points, particularly on the power play. Zuccarello had four goals and 13 assists on the power play last year, but has only one assist with a man-advantage this season. The Rangers need Zuccarello to regain his playmaking confidence on the power play.

After scoring on a pretty consistent basis in the beginning of the season, it has been seven games since St. Louis last scored a goal. The Rangers need him to break out of that streak because few players inspire a team like St. Louis when they’re doing well. It’s simple -- when St. Louis plays better, he makes the players around him better and play harder.

Kreider was expected to be one of New York’s main contributors on offense, but he has one goal in the last 16 games. They not only need Kreider’s offense, but they need him to stay sharp defensively. Sometimes when a forward isn’t having a good time on offense, they let that affect their defense.
