Since their inception into the NHL in 1967, the St. Louis Blues have had many superstars and leaders come and go. Here is a list of the top five captains in Blues' history.

Arbour led the Blues in their first three seasons as a team from 1967-1970. He joined the team already having won the Stanley Cup four times (once in Detroit, Chicago and twice in Toronto). He may not have put up any crazy offensive numbers, but he led the brand new team to three consecutive Cup Finals, the only Cup appearances in Blues history.

Backes is currently in his fourth season as the Blues' captain. Under his leadership, Backes' Blues have cracked 100 points twice, won the Central Division once (and finished second twice) and they are currently four points out of top spot in the league. His grittiness, faceoff prowess and ability to put up points has helped solidify this team as a contender.

Hull wore the 'C' for four seasons from 1992-1996. In those four years, the "Golden Brett" buried 50 goals twice and scored at a pace of 1.2 points per game. His Blues lost in the conference semi-finals twice.

Pronger captained the Blues for five years from 1997-2002. He led them to a division title in 2000 and a trip to the conference finals the following year. He had a career high 62 points and a plus-52 in that 2000 season. Consequently, he won both the Hart and Norris trophies that year.

Brian is the oldest of the Sutter brothers to play in the NHL. He was captain in St. Louis from 1979-1988. His teams won the Smyth/Norris division three times and made one conference finals appearance. During those nine years, Sutter scored at least 35 goals four times, with three of those years also including at least 230 penalty minutes. He made such an impact that the team retired his No. 11 in '88 as soon as he retired.
