The Dallas Stars franchise has found some success in their existence that dates back to the 1967 NHL expansion, in which they came into the league as the Minnesota North Stars. They won the only Stanley Cup in franchise history in 1999 and have two President trophies along with seven division championships. This success wouldn’t have been possible without great leadership; here are the top five captains in Stars history.

A fifth-round pick of the Dallas Stars in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, Jamie Benn has exceeded all expectations, flourishing into the team’s captain. Benn is a skillful offensive player, and he along with teammate Tyler Seguin have formed chemistry that makes them one of the best offensive pairings in the NHL. While Benn hasn’t led the team to great heights yet, the Stars are a young, team that will be very dangerous in the coming seasons.
