The Anaheim Ducks are currently first in the Western Conference and NHL, a position they’ve been at or close to for most of the season. With a record like the one the Ducks have put together this season (31-11-6), they have beaten most teams in the league. But even with all the success they’ve had, there is one team that Anaheim has yet to figure out. That team just happens to be one of their conference and state rivals, the San Jose Sharks.

The Sharks are having a pretty good season, currently in a playoff spot and fourth in the Western Conference. They have a record of 26-17-6, but an impressive 4-0-1 record against the Ducks, arguably the best team in the league.

The two California teams have met five times this season with the Ducks only winning one of those games, but in overtime, no less. It’s worth mentioning the Ducks have a great record when it comes to one-goal games, so while they’ve figured that out, the Sharks have figured them out. The Sharks took the other four games and by a pretty wide margin, out-shooting the Ducks 19-8 in the games they won.

That’s a pretty incredible number for San Jose when you consider the team they’re facing in Anaheim, known for being big, strong and offensively powerful.

This is bad news for the Ducks, though, who could potentially face the Sharks in the playoffs, should both teams make it there and depending on seeding. If the Ducks want to recapture the elusive Stanley Cup, they better figure out a way to stop the Shark attack.
