The Philadelphia Flyers already showed this offseason that they don't like missing the playoffs. They canned their head coach, despite another season with a winning record. Now, it is up to Ron Hextall to build the right roster for this organization. Here are five players that the Flyers should target this offseason.

Michael Ryder was terrible for the New Jersey Devils last season, so he is a player to watch when it comes to a bargain deal. He could become another scoring threat on the bottom six who could work his way up the lines.

The Flyers don't need top end forwards. They have Claude Giroux, Jakub Voracek and Wayne Simmonds as threats for 30 goals and 90 points every season. They need players on the bottom six to regulate play and cause turnovers. Marcel Goc would be a great addition to those lines for the Flyers.

The Flyers are set to lose Ray Emery this offseason, so they need a good backup to replace him. Steve Mason is a decent starting goalie, but he is an injury risk. Jhonas Enroth showed this season that he is a capable backup, and can start when the situation presents itself.

While the Flyers don't need a top flight forward, they could use a top defenseman. Mike Green is one of the only top defensemen on the market this season. He may end up being out of the Flyers' price range, but they need to at least spin the wheels on him.

1. Christian Ehrhoff

This has a big asterisk next to it. The concussion issue that Ehrhoff is dealing with could be the end of his career. If it isn't, however, then the Flyers need to see if they can bring him in. Since Chris Pronger's career basically ended, the Flyers have been looking for the top defenseman. Ehrhoff would qualify.
