The Washington Capitals are desperately trying to build around Alex Ovechkin while he can still play like a superstar. It seems like the Caps have had trouble finding the perfect fit outside of Nicklas Backstrom. With so many players slated to become free agents, this offseason is huge for this team. These five players would be great fits for the organization.

Antoine Vermette did not end up being the piece many thought he was when he was traded to the Chicago Blackhawks, but there is an argument that they don't win the Cup without him. He had a knack for scoring goals when the team needed it most. He scored four goals in all of the postseason, but three of them were game-winners (including two in the Final). He would bring a clutch gene to Washington that they could desperately use in the playoffs.

Christian Ehrhoff's future is in doubt thanks to concussion issues, but don't call it a career just yet. His uncertainty could make him come at a discount for the Caps, and he would be a great replacement if Mike Green decides to leave. Picking up former Penguins defensemen has worked out so far.

The Capitals are going to lose some grit from the bottom six, so B.J. Crombeen would be a great addition. He brings a hitter to a team full of scorers.

Braden Holtby is the goalie of the present and the future. He will get some interest from teams in desperate need of a goalie, but the Capitals cannot let another team come in with a better offer that they wouldn't be able to match. They should sign this guy to a long-term deal right now.

Justin Williams is the playoff warrior the Capitals need. They can only get so far without those players, and Williams would bring a presence in the playoffs they sorely need. He knows what it is like to win it all; the Caps don't know what it's like to get past the second round. He will bring everything this team needs to finally move on to at least the Eastern Conference Finals.
