Chicago Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane is currently the target of a rape investigation in his offseason home of Hamburg, New York. According to the Buffalo News, a local woman has accused the playmaking winger of sexual assault stemming from an alleged incident last weekend.

It’s important to note that Kane has not been charged and this is still in the investigation stage. Hamburg police will not confirm if Kane is even under investigation. “I can’t even confirm that there is an incident. “Hamburg Police Chief Gregory G. Wickett told ESPN. “We’re not confirming or denying that there is an investigation with Mr. Kane.”

According to the police enforcement sources, the woman went to a hospital where a rape kit was performed.

Kane has a history of off-ice incidents, but obviously none as serious as this. In 2009, Kane and his cousin were accused of assaulting a cab driver in Buffalo, New York. The driver said Kane beat him up during a dispute over the fare and Kane eventually pleaded guilty to a noncriminal charge of disorderly conduct.

Kane is coming off his third Stanley Cup Finals victory in the last six years with the Chicago Blackhawks. He signed an eight-year, $84 million contract last summer. We’ll keep you up to date as more information becomes available.
