5 Dirtiest Anaheim Ducks Players In Franchise History

Dirty play is just a part of hockey. The sport is violent and high-octane by nature, so if somebody gets checked a certain way that is just part of the game. Nevertheless, Anaheim Ducks players on offense and defense have made their mark in some unsavory ways. Let’s take a look at some of these players.

5. Stu Grimson

He may have been a forward, but Stu Grimson played more like a defensive enforcer with the then Mighty Ducks of Anaheim. The nickname of "The Grim Reaper" was well-deserved as Grimson was a vicious fighter and hitter. Earning 583 penalty minutes with the Ducks, Stu Grimson was not a man you wanted to piss off.

4. Warren Rychel

Another hot-headed forward, Warren Rychel only played two seasons with the Mighty Ducks. In those two years, Rychel managed to rack-up 416 penalty minutes (keep in mind that he retired with a career-total of 1,422 penalty minutes). Rychel was by all means an enforcer, meaning any player who got in his way would face a world of pain.

3. Jason Marshall

Marshall earned 740 penalty minutes while playing with the Ducks. One of his tactics was checking in a manner that was intent on injuring players. There was no such thing as a clean hit really with Marshall. Fun fact, in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (where Marshall finished his career), the defenseman managed to earn the most penalty minutes in the league (he also earned suspensions).

2. Corey Perry

Perry is known for being a genius puck handler, but he also has a bit of a temper. In fact, Perry is second in Ducks franchise history for penalty minutes (at the moment he has 801). The left winger is known for dropping the gloves, checking a little too hard and has been suspended in the past for late hits (notably for the check to the head of Minnesota Wild's Jason Zucker).

1. George Parros

Off the ice George Parros is a wonderful guy, however, on the ice with the Ducks he was a bringer of hell. Parros was a designated enforcer with a "seek-and-destroy" play style. Hitting hard (totaling 405 hits with the Ducks), starting fights and disrupting offensive rushes with physical play was all part of his plan. The thing is... not all of it was legal. Parros has the honor of leading the Ducks in all-time penalty minutes (812 total).
