The Colorado Avalanche have had a successful tenure in Denver, since their move from Quebec. They were formerly known as the Quebec Nordiques and since arriving in Colorado, they have won two Stanley Cups, nine division championships and two Presidents' trophies in their history. As good as they have been, there are some questions around some of the youth on their roster and here are five things they need to fix heading into the 2015-16 season.

Iginla has had a fantastic career and a productive season last year when he played each game and scored 59 points. However, he is 38 years old and will probably have a diminished role on the team if the team struggles out of the gate and decides to play the prospects and youth during each game the rest of the way. This is not to suggest that Iginla hasn't got a role on the team, but he will likely find himself as a bottom six forward.

Leaving Buffalo and going to Denver could be a blessing in disguise for the 21-year-old first-round selection in 2012, who only scored only six points in 25 games last year. Surrounding himself with GM Joe Sakic, head coach Patrick Roy and playing with Jarome Iginla could be beneficial and make him a budding superstar for the Avalanche, after promising credentials as a top prospect.

3. How do they get Nathan MacKinnon going?

MacKinnon took the league by storm in his rookie year but went backward last season. He has 101 points in 146 career games and needs to push the reset button and go back to his 63-point debut in the league in which he played a healthy season. If he has a successful training camp, he can be a valuable commodity as a top-six forward.

2. Who replaces Ryan O'Reilly's minutes?

The Colorado Avalanche made a significant trade sending Ryan O'Reilly and Jamie McGinn to the Buffalo Sabres and acquiring Mikhail Grigorenko, Nikita Zadorov, a prospect and a draft pick in last summer's draft. There are many talented forwards as options to replace O'Reilly's minutes like Carl Söderberg, Gabe Landeskog and Matt Duchene.

1. Can the youngsters produce the results that head coach Patrick Roy is preaching?

Head coach Roy was a very aggressive goaltender in his illustrious career for both the Montreal Canadiens and this same Avalanche franchise where he won two Stanley Cups with each team. Hockey fans probably remember the glass pushing toward Anaheim Ducks head coach Bruce Boudreau. While Roy has 112- and 90-point campaigns behind the Avalanche bench, the management issue will be whether the players can implement what Roy is selling.
