The Boston Bruins have had many greats wear the "B" and delight the Boston faithful attending games at the Boston Garden. The Bruins have not had the best of luck returning to the Stanley Cup Finals since their 2011 championship run, and a rebuilding effort may be in the works as a result. The following five players should be dealt heading toward the February 29 NHL trade deadline to aid that cause.

Loui Eriksson came to Boston as part of a publicized trade from the Dallas Stars that sent superstar Tyler Seguin to the Lonestar state. He appears to be a quality player this season, but he's scored only 82 points in 142 regular season games. Eriksson has struggled in Beantown and could use a change of scenery.

This is probably a ridiculous idea to some fans of the Bruins, as David Krejci is one of the best bright spots in their season. After all, he has scored 15 points in the first dozen games and was the third star of the month in October. That's all good, but Bruins management appears anxious to start a rebuild. Dealing Krejci could get a lot of future superstar talent back in return.

The common theme with the Bruins is that if general manager Don Sweeney is committed to a rebuild, Patrice Bergeron has to go. Purging large contracts and replacing them with prospects and draft picks is the way to go, and it has been proven that to build successful championship teams, you need to accrue youngsters.

2. Brad Marchand

Marchand has played in 10 games and been a great secondary scorer on the Bruins to go together with forward David Krejci. Early in November, he was awarded the first star of the week and has proven to be a valuable pugilistic player who is ready to stick up for his teammates. He continues to show value, but if the season starts to slip away, he would be a great addition to a playoff-bound roster.

The team's big rugged defenseman has put together a great career in Boston after stops with the New York Islanders and the Ottawa Senators. The 38-year-old has been showing signs of declining abilities, and assuming the team falters within the competitive Eastern Conference, the Bruins could still get some value from another franchise in their quest for a Stanley Cup.
